Biography

Dr. Maryam Hafezparast holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree from the University of Tehran. She completed a one-year research fellowship at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, where she collaborated with professors Prof. Hans Bressers and Prof. Tatiana Filatova, resulting in several joint publications. Since 2014, she has been teaching and conducting research in water and environmental sciences at Razi University.  

In 2018, she undertook a one-year research period at the University of Malaya (UM) in Malaysia. Her primary expertise spans the fields of climate change, optimization and simulation of water resource systems, hydrology, time series analysis, remote sensing, and the application of machine learning methods in water resources management using Python programming.  

In collaboration with Dr. Seyed Ehsan Fatemi and Ms. Eng. Rahimi Far, she co-authored the book "Stochastic Hydrology and Its Applications," which explores time series analysis and forecasting techniques applied to water and weather data. This book serves as a key reference for graduate and doctoral students. Additionally, she has been involved in numerous research projects focused on water resources management, aimed at optimizing water use and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.  

Since 2019, she has founded and directed the Water Research Center at Razi University, where she works alongside students and faculty to address and raise awareness of water-related challenges in Iran and Kermanshah Province, striving to develop practical solutions. (https://rwrg.razi.ac.ir/)  

Prior to her academic career, from 2008 to 2011, she worked as a Senior Water Resources Specialist at Moshanir Power Engineering Consultants in Tehran, gaining valuable experience in consulting and project management within the water resources sector.
